9/11 Remembered.

America was very hasty, after 9/11 to declare that her war isn't against Islam but against terrorism.

The American state dept even published a book to teach people about Islam. They also have a website about Muslims in America:

http://usinfo.state.gov/products/pubs/muslimlife

This seems a surprising response to 9/11 but America is saying loudly and clearly to all the Moslems in all the world that Moslems in America aren't the enemy. The enemy is outside, in non democratic countries like Iraq and Afganistan. Democracies like America protect their citizens just as a good democracy should, even if some of them went astray and brought suffering on the whole country.

The Moslem in America is getting absorbed in the same way the Irish, the Italians, Chinese, Spanish, Jews and an uncountable number of others were absorbed and became loyal Americans

Despite all the battles in Iraq and Afganistan America keeps on insisting that she's not at war with Islam. All she's doing is teaching the people in those countries to be democratic just as she is democratic at home.

Despite the many pundits who scream that America is trying to dominate the world the opposite is true. America believes that the power of democracy lies in the ability of the individual to be able to choose his own destiny. He can choose Islam if he wants or he can choose Atheism, Buddhism, Judaism or Christianity.

It's expected that the die hard tyrants of the world, like Ahmanidajad and Bin Laden will fight this process tooth and nail because they know they're lost. They are Neanderthals of a past age and they're not going without a fight.

The ones who shock me are the intellectuals who should know better than to blindly oppose progress towards democracy and falsely label it tyranny.

PM seeks ways to resume dialogue

Instead of telling the Israelis what Mr. Blair and Mr. Olmert really talked about the media blares out Olmert's acquiescence to Mr. Blair's request that he talk to Abbas. I'm sure the editor thinks he's doing Israel a service by informing the Europeans, who they think, Mr.Blair represents, that Israelis, in the shape of Olmert, are cow towing to their demands.

They imagine that Europeans read Israeli newspapers and will start loving us. How conceited can they get?

We'd have been much more interested to know what great Israeli food Mr. Blair ate or what excellent Israeli wine Olmert offered him. At least then we'd have had something to comment on. But telling us that Olmert is going to talk to Abbas isn't interesting. He can't persuade Abbas to do anything and Abbas in any case doesn't have the power. The Hamas has the power. We mustn't talk to the Hamas, because they don't recognize our right to exist, but why can't Blair talk to the Hamas?.

The UK is a powerful ally and Olmert needed to get Blair's help to put a stop to Palestinian attacks against Israel. I'm sure the UK could do a better job than Israel in patrolling the West Bank and Gaza. UK soldiers would be much more acceptable to the Palestinians, who hate our guts, than the IDF. The UK would do a great job manning the border crossings and allowing food and other necessary goods to move free without daily eruptions of violence. The UK can get the Palestinain authority to govern their people properly instead of having the present chaotic situation.

If the people of the UK have such good will towards the Palestinians they shouldn't have trouble finding a leader to do these things.
